Then I noticed the ducks looked a bit different. When I first glanced at them I thought they were just swimming around like they usually do. But then I noticed they were swimming in circles, and something even more odd...
They ALL had their beaks down in the water! I've never seen ducks do this before. It was so strange. I'm guessing that maybe some sort of bug had just hatched and was floating on the surface of the water, but I couldn't see anything. I drove slowly around the lake and every duck was doing the same thing.
Maybe they had the duck version of Spring Fever?
A gaggle of ducks gobbling bugs... Sounds like a good story line for a children's book !!
ReplyDeleteAnd you have the pics to prove it !!
That would be my guess too... How wild!
ReplyDeleteIs that a new picture of Georgie... I really like it. He looks like, "yes I am the perfect cat" :o) too cute!
Have a great day.
Always, Queenie
B'ham, you should write it!
ReplyDeleteQueenie, the picture of Georgie has been on here for a few weeks. He does think he's the perfect cat; just ask him, he'll tell you! LOL
I think Kenneth Grahame wrote about this in WIND IN THE WILLOWS -- a poem about 'ducks a-dabbling, Up tails all!'
ReplyDeleteYes, Vicki, he did. I blogged about it some time ago. But, the ducks in his 'Ducks Ditty' were behaving normally; heads completely underwater, bottoms stuck up in the air. The ducks in my photos only had their bills down in the water, they did not stand on their heads, so to speak, as ducks normally do.
ReplyDeleteWell, that IS strange.
