This is a Scrub Jay. Usually they're not found above the 2,000 ft. elevation. I guess this poor guy must have been really lost, since he was up here above 5,000 ft.
At least he found some food...I hope he found his way back to his home.

I love all of these as well as your part of the US...I am California born 70 years past and lived there only 4 years. Came to visit 4 years ago and loved the areas we ventured to. I love the Scrub Jays and maybe some of the nature situations out there have messed with some of these beauties. I am glad that I found your post~
