This 'n That

This Northern Flicker was posing on my bird feeder so, of course, I took a photo!
Lake Arrowhead was looking especially beautiful yesterday.
My cottage is all ready for Halloween.
The color of the trees up here this autumn are really spectacular.
This photo is from five years ago when Alyce was a kitten.  She just loved playing in the Halloween tree!

I hope everyone has a great Halloween and, if you have critters, be sure to keep your pets inside to keep them safe.

This 'n That

I've been gardening...
Icelandic Poppies, geraniums, pansies, violas, and hydrangeas.
I've been going for walks...
Taking care of my cats, and taking care that they don't eat any of my houseplants!
I've been going for lots of drives, since spring is so beautiful up here.  This was how Lake Gregory looked on a day about a week ago, but when I turned to face the other direction, a fog (Marine Layer from the Pacific ocean) was pouring over the mountains down into the valley.  So I drove up through it and got above it.
This is what it looked like from above.  High level clouds above the San Gabriel range in the background, and the Marine Layer pouring over, around and through the western end of the San Bernardino range.
And, of course, I've been drinking lots of tea, reading lots of books, and taking lots of photographs.  I'm taking most of my photos now with my iPhone X as it's so much easier for me to handle with my arthritic hands.  You can find me over on Instagram, where I post everyday, as Brushstrokes6400.

Tis the Season...

...for cats behaving badly.  Miss Alyce, in particular, likes to be in the tree...
On the things under the tree...
And in the things under the tree.
Merlin (gray paw on left) tries to stop her,
But Alyce is a force, albeit tiny, to be reckoned with!
Soon she tires of the up, down, in and around the tree...
And heads over to the fireplace...
for a long nap.
It's hard work taking that tree apart three times a day, and she wishes her human mom would stop undoing all the good, destructive work she's done!  And I bet you can guess what her mom wishes...

Meet Alyce Eloise

She came to us last September, a little six week old pastel calico.  She hasn't really gotten much bigger than she is in this photo.  We call her our miniature kitty. She was a little nervous about the camera at first.  "What is that big, black, shiny round thing you're pointing at me?  Is it hungry?!"

But, she got used to it.  She's very sweet and is beloved by her bigger 'siblings.'  (They're not from the same litter).

She can be a little opinionated at times... "This is my saucer, and I'm not moving!"

But, she always wins us over with her sweet face and her little kitty kisses.
