Iris

A beautiful iris blooming in my studio in a pot.
After the blooms fade I'll plant it in my garden.
Hopefully, it will like it there and give me more flowers next year!

Springing Back to Winter

I'm glad I was able to get these photos a few days ago, because the weather abruptly switched from spring to winter last night.  (To enlarge photos, just click on them).
Last night we had a cold, hard rain with plummeting temperatures and today we had a hail storm.
These daffodils, and the ones below, were planted by a community group in Twin Peaks several years ago.
Quite a few of the daffodils were already past their peak of bloom when I took these photos, but, luckily for me, there were still enough of them blooming to make a cheery show!

Beautiful Blues

This is a Baby Blue Eyes blossom.  They're only about the size of a dime and they grow in large, low to the ground, mats everywhere up here this time of year.  I have tried to find out the name of the nasty plant growing along side it, to no avail.  All I know about it is that those horrid little fuzzy balls get stuck in my cats' fur every spring and summer and they're really hard to get out!
The photo above, and the two below, are of a Western Bluebird.  They're very shy, so I was thrilled when this one let me get several photos of him.
And,last but not least, an iris...MY iris!!  I have been trying for several years to grow these but have lost them to gophers, squirrels, deer and who knows what else.  But, this one made it!

Sunday Sunlight

I took this back in June of 2008.  It was growing in someone else's garden, but they didn't mind if I took a photo, bless them.

Still Captivated

I was fascinated with this Iris, the only one that I saw that had bifurcated the purple and the white/purple stripes on one petal.

Ooooh, what a blue!

Captivated

Yesterday a friend and I went to lunch at the Olive Garden, a restaurant down the hill.  We were late for lunch because I just had to stop and take pictures of these beautiful irises.  I think it's some sort of a tiny public garden, but I didn't take time to read the plaque.  Well ok, to be honest, I didn't even notice the plaque until I got home and uploaded my photos.  I was too captivated by the Irises!
