Wow, That Was Fast

I can't believe that tomorrow is Halloween.  October always goes by fast, but this one flew at warp speed.

Soon I'll have to put away all my Halloween things.

All the pumpkins and kitties in their Halloween costumes...

All the witches and jack-o-lanterns...

And Miss Luna Witch, who watches everything from her perch on the moon.   But...maybe they'll stay for a couple of weeks more...at least until I can start putting the Christmas decorations up!  Somebody needs to invent something that will make time go really sloooooow from October through December.

Zoooooooommmm!

Can it really be June already?  This year is flying by faster than a Italian race car with its gas pedal glued to the floorboard.  The poppies (California's state flower) and the beautiful blue lupins are blooming on the hillsides.
Down at Lake Arrowhead, the ducks are doing their thing close to the shore, where they won't get run over by a boat.

My mama, and every older person I knew when I was a child, used to tell me to "make the most of being young because time goes by faster than you can blink."  I didn't believe them.  Summer lasted forever, then school went on for an eternity until Christmas vacation...time passing by fast?  What were they talking about?

Now I know.  And, I bet you know, too...don't blink, or it will be November!

October

I can't believe it's already October 17. Why does this month always go by so, so fast? As fast as a golden October leaf blown by on a gust of Autumn wind, that's how fast this month seems to fly.

We're having warm days, but the nights are cool enough for small fires in the living room and studio fireplaces. That's Georgie in the photo above enjoying the fire. Until we've had more rain, I'll only use the logs that are made of - well, I'm not sure what they're made of, but they don't send sparks spiraling out of the chimneys like real wood does.

Oh, October... with your sapphire blue sky filled with the orange, red and gold confetti of flying leaves, the scent of apples, pine trees and tang of wood smoke, your cool nights with firelight flickering on the hearth while, out in the October scented dark, the breeze whispers of magic passing by and magic yet to come...won't you stay?

Hurry, Please...

I'm lonely. Aren't you done decorating yet?

At least, that's what I think Miss Ruby is saying. (I'm surprised her lower lip isn't quivering).

I'm so behind in my decorating. My husband lost the top to our old tree (how, I don't know) so I had to order a new one on the internet. Their stock was backordered, and I've been playing catch-up every since. I plan (and you know what they say about plans) on finishing the decorating tomorrow and doing the baking and candy making on Thursday and Friday.

Ever notice how time seems to go into warp drive right around the beginning of November? Or does it do that just to me?
