Taken 2.9.2015 at Lake Arrowhead, at a very shallow end of the lake. There was only about an inch, maybe two, of water underneath the two napping female ducks. I marveled at how very buoyant ducks are! I would have thought their feet would be touching the bottom, but no, they had them tucked up tight underneath their bodies. When a slight breeze ruffled the water, the two bobbed about like rubber duckies in a bathtub, but they didn't wake up. I wish I could sleep that soundly...
Love your photo of the sleeping ducks. Normally the expression is slept like a Lamb but those two ducks look very content.
ReplyDeleteI guess they sleep very deeply and recharge in small chunks of time, then they're awake and busy again.
ReplyDeleteIncredible buoyancy at such a shallow depth.
Lovely pic, thank you, Victoria.
**And, a kiss to dear Mrs. Rose. I hope you've seen her recently - perhaps given her a treat or two?
Her darling little face looking up at you.
xx
Well what could lull you to sleep better than bobbing along in a gentle breeze on crystal clear water ... lucky ducks ;)

Dear Victoria - great photo and it is amazing how those sweet ducks just float on top of the water. Hope you have a great day.
ReplyDeleteVicki, I see Mrs. Rose nearly every day. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm very glad to know that. Tell her I send my very best wishes...
