Harvest Moon Eclipse

This moon was one of the strangest-looking moons I've ever seen.
I took these photos between 8 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. last night.
The moon looked so dark when I first started taking photos,
I was afraid I wouldn't get any usable photos at all.  There were also thin clouds around,
just enough to fuzzy up the atmosphere at first, but later becoming thick
enough to blow everything out.
Maybe tonight I'll try and get some photos of the moon appearing as just the 'regular' Harvest Moon.  I found the color of last night's moon awe-inspiring and, as I was taking photos, I couldn't help wonder how terrified a person would have been by a moon like this six or seven hundred years ago...

  1. Hi Victoria,
I knew you would be able to capture some beautiful photos, and I was right. No luck here, too much cloud cover, and it was hardly visible.. I tried taking a few, the photos just came out black.
    . Great shots!
    fondly,

  3. So happy you were able to capture GREAT photos of La Luna before she hid behind a clouded veil.
She did appear strangely beautiful and haunting. The atmosphere must have been amazing!
And yes, I imagine very terrifying to those many centuries ago.
For us here in Oz, we didn't experience such splendour - no red and no eclipse, so I'm glad to be able to share the thrill here.
They are beautiful, Victoria. Your camera skills are excellent!

  4. Dear Victoria - so glad you captured this moon. Your photos were awesome. I went out but we had clouds and rain so didn't get to see it. Was hoping too. Early in the morning around 3:00 a.m. the rain moved out and I got to see it but naturally not at its peak. So glad to see yours.
