Colors

My eye was caught by the colors of this little faceted crystal
hanging in my studio window.
I think it liked the sunlight we had today...the first in over three weeks!  But, happily, the weather people are saying that it's going to start raining and snowing again on Thursday and continue through the weekend, with rainfall totals of up to 10 inches.

Abstract Ice

I can't seem to get over my endless fascination with the colors and textures that are hidden in ice, glass and other reflective things.  It would take me about three days to do this in oils, more if I did it in watercolor.  Of course, if I did take the time for watercolors, it would be much sharper with crisper edges and more definition...but playing with the computer is fun, too.  Left click to enlarge.

Something to Consider

Impatience

This isn't a current picture; I took it in November of 2010.  I'm soooooo impatient for the autumn colors to arrive, but I'm afraid that this year they might not be so great.  Two of the dogwood trees on my property have many leaves that are just turning brown and dropping off!  I hope all the deciduous trees don't behave like these two trees.  It's just been too darn hot up here, although today we did get a little rain.  I'm crossing my fingers and hoping we get a lot more rain, we need it.

Sunday Sunlight

I took this on July 9, 2011, after we had a very unexpected, very welcome, but very brief rain shower.  I'm fascinated by light and shadow...rain drops on a cherry in dappled sunlight was irresistible!  After I took the photo I ate the cherry.  I figured the birds wouldn't mind if I took just one.  (I have to admit, though, it tasted so good that I came back and picked a few more...but I was careful to leave plenty for the birds).

Sunday Sunlight

Shadows and light, colors and their reflections, colors that try to hide in the shadows of white...
