Faeries Friday

A beautiful Autumn Faery I found on Pinterest.  It is still officially autumn until the Winter Solstice, according to astronomers.  The World Meteorological Organization says it's autumn from September 1st to November 30th in the Northern Hemisphere.  In my own life I go by what the leaves, the animals, the wind and the weather tell me.  They say it's still autumn here in these mountains, but winter isn't far off...

But You're Wearing a Fur Coat...

Rita Mae Moonsparkle just said this to me: "Oh, you say it feels like spring is here Mama, but I am a wise cat and I won't give up my blankets until it's SUMMER.  And, by the way, close the windows and the doors!  When the sun sets I get very chilly."

Well, let me rush to do your bidding, Queen Rita.  I live to serve.  (Oops, I'm getting the 'look.'  I guess she's better at detecting sarcasm than I had thought).

Harbingers

I spotted this little guy (girl?) sitting in the sun on a branch of the Box Elder tree. I think this might be the earliest I've seen a Robin, but I can't remember for sure. But, Robins are always a welcome sight!

The new branches on the deciduous trees are greening up, and the tulip and daffodil shoots are taller than I've ever seen them at this time of year.

Though we've hardly had any winter I guess Spring must really be on her way.
