On the Wild Side

I found a little wild rose blooming in a sunny spot in the forest today.   Stepping out of the shade of thick pines and cedars and finding something like this is pure magic to me...forest magic and earth magic working together to create a gift.  A visual gift for me but, when fall arrives, the rosehips will be a gift of food for the animals and birds.

  1. So beautiful. I love those wild roses too. Where I walk my dog there are large poplar trees and in between there are wild roses too.
Thank you so much for sharing.
    Have a wonderful day.

  3. So sweet, this rose.

I used to grow Rugosa Roses one my cottage property. I loved them so - even their many prickles :)

They were as close to original wild roses as I could get.
I loved their papery, crinkly petals, their deeply veined textural leaves and the scent - like strawberries.
