Saturday's Critters

This is a Scrub Jay.  Usually they're not found above the 2,000 ft. elevation.  I guess this poor guy must have been really lost, since he was up here above 5,000 ft. 
At least he found some food...I hope he found his way back to his home.

    Thank you for sharing this pretty little scrub Jay. I was not aware of this particular one. When we use to visit Crestline I always enjoyed the Blue Jays.

  5. oh dear, i hate when that happens!! he is beautiful, different than blue jays, which is what i see!!

    i had a lost oriole one winter. i fed her well and she stayed with me all winter. it was such a joy to look after her!!

  7. I love all of these as well as your part of the US...I am California born 70 years past and lived there only 4 years. Came to visit 4 years ago and loved the areas we ventured to. I love the Scrub Jays and maybe some of the nature situations out there have messed with some of these beauties. I am glad that I found your post~
