Acorns

While on a walk around Lake Gregory I spotted a pair of Acorn Woodpeckers. 
One was busy hammering acorns in the holes that they had made in the thick bark of a Ponderosa Pine.  I think the other one was looking for bugs on the tree, or perhaps it was a youngster being shown how to store food.
I wonder if they ever get headaches?  Poor birds, I hope not!

    We have woodpeckers here but none like these. How neat to see a pair and get good photos. I wonder if they give themselves headaches too! heehee!

    i have never seen, nor heard of this woodpecker before!!

    Wow Victoria these two are gorgeous...their colors make me think of our "Woody" Woodpeckers that reside in our woods. Fun to see those acorns planted in the tree. Hope you are having a great day. Hugs!
